So, what’s new?

Sorry about the fact that I completely disappeared from my blog for the last two weeks, but I’ve been really busy sorting myself out. It’s only a few weeks until I start university at Swinburne, so I’ve got a heap of work to do and stuff to buy. Hopefully I’ll be sorted by the 17th, as that’s the day when I can check into my student residences.

Getting into the student residences was quite a battle. Initially I was rejected, because I didn’t send off my VTAC letter. The VTAC letter is used to show the Swinburne housing people that I was accepted into a course. This seems redundant, as the people at Swinburne get this information anyway from VTAC. You would think Swinburne would try and ensure that every student that received a place (and a scholarship!) had adequate accommodation, especially if they aren’t local to the area. However this wasn’t the case.

So after emailing several people, we were bumped toward the top of the waiting list, and a few days after the second-round offers, we were told we received a place in the residences. W00t!

I’m quite looking forward to my next three years of Professional Software Development. The course appears to be right up my alley, and the lecturers appear to be really good people. There’s an orientation activity coming up just for PSD students, called The AmaSwin Race (I see what you did there!) , which sounds really quite fun. Basically it’s running around Melbourne all day completing tasks, and getting back to Swinburne in time for dinner. Plus there’s a free shirt. According to the International Law of Winning, Free Shirt = Win. :D

Anyway, more posts to come soon hopefully, provided that I’m not completely lazy. :P

Sounds awesome buddy. The University of Melbourne medical students are supposed to participate in what people call a “Scav Hunt” during orientation week. You basically travel all around Melbourne giving people the impression you’re a hobo. I probably won’t waste my time with it. LOL!
