Sweet App Of The Day: VirusTotal Uploader

Computing

VirusTotal is one of my favourite sites. It lets you upload any file to its servers, and it will scan it against about 30 different virus scanners. This can be very useful, as a second opinion on a suspicious file is always a good idea. For example, Norton Anti-Virus picks up nearly anything as a dangerous virus these days, including many computer security tools.

The only thing that is a bit annoying about VirusTotal, is having to open up Firefox (or Opera), and go to the site, then find the file, and upload it…. what if there was a simple way to send the file to VirusTotal instantly? Now there is: The VirusTotal Uploader.

After 70 kilobytes of downloading, and about three seconds of installing, now you can simply upload any file to VirusTotal by right-clicking it, clicking Send To, then clicking VirusTotal.image

It’s convenient, it’s fast, it’s free, it’s awesome. :P

Your VirusTotal link is broken… It links to http://www.benstoneonline.com/blog/2007/08/19/sweet-app-of-the-day-virustotal-uploader/www.virustotal.com :P

But yeah, I’ve used VirusTotal before, and it’s definitely a useful site :)
