So, perhaps you want to play around with After Effects, and make a gun fire, or make something explode. I came across this site by pure accident. It has free videos of explosions and gun muzzle flashes, which you can import straight into After Effects on top of other footage to create some pretty realistic pyrotechnics. They even have a video tutorial showing how to use the clips (even though it uses some other software). Excellent! Kudos to Detonation Films for these fine pieces of free stock footage!
