Super Mega Blog Post From The Future 3000!

I know, I’ve been lazy. But really, I haven’t. It’s just that so many things have been happening in the last two weeks, so I’ve decided to do a huge blog post. That’s why the title is over-sensational. Here’s a few things in no particular order:

I’m sick

*cough* Since about Thursday last week I’ve had something bad … symptoms are similar to a really bad cold (coughing, sore throat, blocked nose) which is getting to a stage where it’s really shitting me. Gah. With only a week until exams, it’s not the best time to become sick.

Windows Live Writer Beta 2

The best damn blogging software just got better. Now it’s more Vistary in appearance, has better support for Wordpress etc, and did I mention it’s glassier? Here’s a screenshot (click to enlarge):

Like the recursion? I’m sure I’ve blogged about recursion before. :P

Microsoft Releases The World’s Best Table

image

The Microsoft Surface is a new concept: it basically involves a 30″ display built into a table. Everyone sitting around the table reacts with the table by touching it. It recognizes many people simultaneously touching it (like the iPhone), but the coolest thing is that it recognises when you sit your phone, wireless-enabled credit card, or Zune on top of it. It picks it up, and will start looking at photos/music on it. You can drag around photos with your finger. There are some very cool demos of this on Microsoft’s site right now. Watch them. It’s very exciting. It’s the first time I’ve been excited about a Microsoft product since Office 2007. :P

The Worst Game. Ever.

Daniel linked me to what Gamespot says is the worst game ever. Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing sounds like a pretty dodgy title, but it’s only when you watch a video of the game actually being played, when you come to appreciate it’s true awfulness.

Monash exam next week

Uhoh. This will not be good. Next Friday I have a three hour Monash maths exam. The only good things are that there’s only five questions, and it’s open-book. Everything else about it is bad. Bad. Bad. Bad. I need to drop the subject, but then the whole maths faculty at our school will get pissy with me, because they like to encourage (prey on?) students like me to do this to make their school look good. Gah. :P

Physics exam, Tuesday 12 June

Shit. This won’t be good. I’ve been doing practice exams and studying, but I’m still not that great with physics. The things that most screw me up it seems, are questions involving transistors. It doesn’t help that our teacher hasn’t spent a lot of time explaining them, nor does he even know how to do some of the questions we have in our revision books. Eek.

Nice revision site: itute

On a related note, there’s a site with some good revision materials for Physics and all the VCE Maths subjects. It’s called itute. The first good sign is that it hasn’t gone for the popular Apple naming scheme, otherwise it would be iTute. Anyway, the physics summary sheet is pretty good, and the lessons are useful as well.

Another HD-DVD key leaked today

Uhoh. It’s 09-F9-11-02-etcetcetc all over again! Last time something like this happened, Digg became overrun with stories about this mysterious number. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again.

I’m enjoying my sw4g!

I’m loving my shirts from ThinkGeek. Here’s what I’ve been wearing: (pictures shamelessly pulled from the ThinkGeek site because I can’t find my camera right now)

Domo-Kun Hoodie: It’s the mascot of Japanese TV channel NHK, which has become an internet phenomenon:

image

1-Up Mushroom T-Shirt: People often say I should get a life. Well now, I’ve got one. Though this life is only really useful in Super Mario Brothers…

image

STFU University T-Shirt: Well, if you know what STFU is, you’ll know why this shirt’s funny. Otherwise, it looks like an innocent piece of university advertising. Heh. :P

image

42 Ringer Shirt: It’s the answer to everything. Plus, it has been seen in an episode of The IT Crowd as one of Roy’s many sweet geek shirts.

In the end I have to say, I’m very pleased with my ThinkGeek experience. It only took a week for my swag to arrive from the US, which is nice. Plus I could easily track where it was in that week, but I’m sure I mentioned that in a previous post. :P

Ahh, glad to get those burning issues off my chest and onto my blog. Though I’m really bogged down with study right now, I might find the opportunity to blog a bit more after exams. Until then, I shall keep repressing my software development and my happiness. :P

Yeah, my Physics teacher told me about itute; it’s quite a useful website! As for the exams, I’m not too worried about the Physics exam (I’m really worried about my Chemistry one however… I’m really bad at Chemistry :P ).

Oh yeah, and I got a copy of Big Rigs and dared my friend to install it :P . You’re Winner!

“come to appreciate it’s true awfulness.”

Bah, my bad grammar resurfaces again! :P Oh well, I’ll learn about the right times to use apostrophes some day.

I installed Big Rigs on the laptop a while ago .. and LOL. :P It really was just as bad as the video shows.
