2007. It’s new. And shiny.
Yay, it’s now 2007!
The holiday season for most people is just about over, as we’re now in 2007, and Christmas is done with. I hope you had a good one. My Christmas was pretty good this year, with some good presents and some good cash, which went towards decking out our garage. It’s now a very nice entertainment room, with bar fridge, couch, 68cm TV, Xbox, PS2, and did I mention a bar fridge!
Another excellent thing I got for Christmas was the DVD of the first season of The IT Crowd. Best DVD ever. The menus are designed to look like they’re running on an early-1980’s computer (like, ZX Spectrum graphics). It’s got some quite funny deleted scenes, two commentary tracks, and a short-film by Graham Linehan called Hello Friend which shows a guy’s horror experience with his ISP. Also, there are subtitles in 1337. By 1337 I mean the dialect used by many gamers and online forum trolls. However, only the first episode is completely 1337-ified, with references to Ubuntu, DRM, Counter-Strike, and MC Frontalot. Two other episodes have their subtitles encoded in … hey wait, what am I to ruin it for you? Go and buy it. Seriously.
It turned out to be a pretty good Christmas this year, though I probably wasn’t quite as excited as The Nintendo 64 Kid:

So what about the new year? Well, I’m not sure if it’s going to be very good, because I’m going to be in Year 12, doing the VCE. VCE is a codeword for government-endorsed slavery of youths aged between 16 and 18. It involves using mind-power techniques to force students, or “prisoners” as they’re internally referred to, to believe that learning the irrelevant lessons of school *will* take priority over all other affairs, including ones that will actually help you develop as a person. Even Wikipedia says it’s “one of the more rigorous secondary education programs in the world.” Ech.
My new-year’s resolution for this year: mod more stuff. I haven’t really ever been much of 1337 h4×0r, but now I’m going to start modifying more things. I’ve already gotten a head start: on New Years Day I replaced the firmware on my WRT54GL with the custom DD-WRT firmware, and it’s running great.
I’ll also have to make sure I blog more during this year … damn if only really interesting things happened in my life, then I’d have a lot of really good stuff to blog. Oh well
I’ll think of something.

Yeah, I’m in Year 12 as well… I’ve got a feeling it will be harder than Year 11, but at least I’ll have spare periods this year (didn’t have any last year). What subjects are you doing?
That “Nintendo 64 Kid” video, I’ve seen that so many times it’s not funny. Someone showed it to me about 2 years ago, and ever since then, I’ve had heaps of people send it to me
