eDonkey gets shut down, RIAA at it again with scare tactics

Computing

Today eDonkey, a popular file sharing network, was shut down by the RIAA after a settlement of $30 million. The eDonkey 2000 software will be no longer distributed, and the servers shut down. Of course this doesn’t affect the people using eMule, the open source clone of eDonkey which has the option to use other servers.

I have to laugh at the RIAA on this one though. If you go to the eDonkey website, you’ll notice that the RIAA have pulled down their site and replaced it with … well … this:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

LOL! Oh noes! All your IP Address are belong to us! :P

*sigh* Just had to laugh at their scare tactics. They’re probably not even logging the IPs, just showing it to make people think “lolzomg!” Why is the RIAA so evil and annoying like this? What will happen when they run out of organisations to shut down and people to sue? Will they shrivel up and die? The only major ones left now are Ares/Warez P2P, Limewire, BitTorrent and Soulseek. If they take down Ares or BitTorrent, there will be hell to pay. :D
Anyway, check out the eDonkey page for yourself if you want, at www.edonkey.com .. but be careful, your IP address might be logged :P

BTW: In that screenshot, I’m not using IE by choice … at work atm. It’s not *my* IP that is “logged”. :D
