It’s May!
Wow, it’s the first day of May, you know what that means … there’s only 13 days until International Ben Appreciation Day .. erh, I mean, my birthday … on the 14th I turn 16. W00t!
A few minor site restructurements have occured over the last week or so. I changed around some of the links and also installed an antispam captcha in the comments. I know, they are a pain in the proverbial, but I had to as I have started getting “Play Poker Now” spam
Attention Victorian School Students: The Victorian IT Teachers Association, the Department of Education and Training, and Microsoft Australia are holding the 2006 Programming Excellence Awards! This is a nice fun competition for those who are passionate about Visual Basic .NET. I entered the Open Challenge division last year and placed first in the state, and won $5000, which was excellent! It is a great experience, if you place in the top 15 in the Open Challenge division, you get to go down to the Microsoft Australia offices in Melbourne and give a demo of your program to a panel of people from VITTA, DEET and Microsoft. That’s exciting.
I highly recommend if you’ve got some VB skills, or if you just want to develop your skills, that you give it a go, talk to your IT co-ordinator about it. It’s a great experience

I swear you’re a nerd. So what did you do with all that money? Are you saving it to fund your future education prospects, invest it or what have you? I wish you all the best of luck in this year’s competition! Wow, too bad I’m not doing systems…

Most of the money is still here in my bank account, but I did buy an Acer PDA, which I’ve had nothing but trouble with
I’m planning on possibly buying a laptop in the near future, so I’ve been shopping around recently.
I’m most likely not going to enter the comp this year, school is going to prioritise over it. Plus, our school uses Borland Delphi, not VB.NET, and I’ll be spending most of Term 3 developing a big application for IT Systems anyway :/
