GeoCities Reloaded – Google Style
Google has just released the Google Page Creator, a site where you can make your own webpages. It’s kinda similar to Geocities and the other free hosting sites (Tripod, etc.). Their online web page creator is all AJAXy like Gmail, which is very nice. After you make your page, you get a URL like http://benssuperubercoolprowebsite.googlepages.com, where benssuperuberprocoolwebsite is replaced with your Gmail username (at the moment you need a Gmail account to use it.)
The good things I’ve noticed about it so far are the lack of advertising (there’s no ads whatsoever, that’s a lot better than the other free hosts) and you get 100MB of space, which is also nice in comparison to the other free hosts.
I’ve played with it for the last few minutes, it’s nice, however some people have complained about compatibility issues (the editor only works in recent versions of IE and Firefox on the PC) but I think it’s good enough. Let’s just pray this won’t cause a swarm of 9-year-olds to believe they are web design companies.
Heheh, just kidding, this looks like a nice site ![]()

Online site builders are for noobs. My advice is to go to http://good-tutorials.com/ and learn to make web sites from scratch.

Heh, yeah tbh I wouldn’t make a site with this, I’d use PHP and MySql and get a nice customised CMS going

I forgot, after you design you site go to http://www.w3schools.com/ to learn the programming aspects of web design.

Yeah, W3Schools is a good site. For more PHP-specific tutorials, php-for-beginners.co.uk is just what the name implies.

You should make Ben Stone Online more than a blog. You should use your tallent and make this into a full blown interactive website.
